The Government has published the Child Maintenance White Paper - A new system of child maintenance. This White Paper sets out the Government's proposals to establish a new and radically different organisation to administer child maintenance.
Queen's speech announces reforms

On 15th November 2006, the Queen's speech mentioned the Government?s plans to reform Child Support: "My government will take forward legislation to reform the welfare system, and to reduce poverty. A bill will be introduced to improve the system of child support."
New child support system announced

The Child Support Agency is to be replaced with a tougher, more streamlined body, Work and Pensions Secretary John Hutton has announced.The new system will be simpler to use and administer, and tougher on parents who do not face up to their responsibilities.
